	The West of Scotland Schools Symphony Orchestra and Concert Band provide professional training and performance opportunities to some of Scotland's most talented young musicians, from over 160 schools in 12 local authorities. August will see the ensembles joining forces for the first time ever to present a special Showcase Concert featuring over 140 musicians, all under the expert and passionate direction of James Lowe (orchestra) and Nigel Boddice MBE (Concert Band). The Orchestra will perform Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony as well as the virtuosic showpiece, Arutunian's Trumpet Concerto, featuring soloist, Lee Mackie, while the Concert Band will perform a hugely entertaining and demanding programme which will include Bach's Toccata and Fugue, arranged by Ray Farr, and Lindisfarne Rhapsody, arranged by Philip Sparke and featuring solo flautist, Mark Taylor www.glasgowconcerthalls.com Tel: 0141 353 8000
